Blocking can be somewhat intimidating, especially the first few times you do it. If you do projects that need blocking, here's some information you may want to know. This blocking method, used by Susan Carlson and detailed on her blog, is used to make your projects look fabulous and seriously professional vs. lumpy and amateurish. I find that it is easier to block the strips before joining mainly because they are smaller and can be pinned to the board. Although, I have also done a blanket in sections when it is finished. Either is do-able. I made a blanket called Arlington which is worked in strips. I blocked them before joining as well.

Wet blocking is what I do for blankets made in motifs (squares, diamonds, hexagons, etc), and items like shawls and smaller.
Does anyone know what pattern this is? Looks like to perfect beginner project for me.
Is there a pattern for the square

I have a steamer, and it is fabulous for blocking: just pin your project down and steam it, let dry!
