This crochet tote is fabulous. This is a pretty easy pattern even for a newbie. For a crocheted bag, this STURDY MARKET TOTE by Delia, is really tough stuff. It's recommended to make this tote in super bulky yarn or if you don't have it, try crocheting with three to four strands of worsted weight yarn together to see if you can achieve the same gauge, which is a bit of a tight gauge to make the bag more functional.
You'll love the photo tutorial, which helps illustrate how the pattern works.

Love this!
Sharon Williams I get most of my patterns from this site. Some are free and some are not. Maybe they are just having issues
Click on the hyperlink on this page – the words – STURDY MARKET TOTE – takes you to the pattern.
You need to click on the hyper link in the text. I got to it no problem. First click on the picture in this facebook post, then scroll down to the words in blue that says S$#%&!@*Y MARKET TOTE – that is the hyper link. Click on that, it will take you to the pattern.
Sherry,
Just saw this tote on facebook and would really like to make it but cannot seem to find the hyperlink you are talking about. Please help!
Hi Lynda, the link is in the words: STURDY MARKET TOTE. To get the patterns on this site : please click the name of the pattern to go to the pattern’s page. This rule applies to all article on this site. The name is easy to recognize : first letters are capital letters, only one line under (not 2) and it’s always followed by the name of the designer. Hope it helps.
Thank you Sherry Smith. Was able to access the pattern. I have a question though. I am allergic to wool. Do you know of another yarn that might work? I was thinking of using Peaches and Cream 100% cotton worsted.. maybe using double or triple strands.

.
But can it have a zipper?
Is it possible to use different yarn than wool. I am allergic to wool. I was thinking maybe Peaches and Cream 100% cotton worsted. Possibly using 2 or 3 strands.
