One of my favorites. Second pattern my grandmother taught me. I still use it a lot … Especially for baby afghans.
I use thus pattern for baby blankets a lot my self. Its quick and easy and make a beautiful gift.

This was my first big project when learning some 40 years ago. Changed colors throughout. Started with 12 rows & a color, then 11 rows of another color, 10 change color, etc. it was huge 🙂 memories of the days I learned 🙂 wow

Love doing this idea. I try to figure out how to prevent it from being square. I add some type of stitch rows to two opposite sides to make it rectangle if I need that shape. Any other ideas?
